Forgotten Road
Collection of words copyright Sue Priest
Cracks in the pavement, weeds creeping across the road. There’s a vacant café, off this deserted highway. With a hard dirt floor and weathered walls in decay. A coyote lingers outside the back door.
It’s a forgotten road where dreams have been left in the dark, nothingbut a memory. Forgotten road.
Wings tied behind my back useless when dreams need to fly. Standing alone I have lost my confidence. Too tired to fight. Too weak to fly. I am hiding in the shadows of my reserve.
It’s a forgotten road where dreams have been left in the dark, nothing but a memory. Forgotten road.
People have told me to stay lighthearted. Keep in control don’t struggle or fight. Accept the world the way it is. This is what I call unconscious advice for a restless soul.
My soul has been searching for some kind of release. A place to rest my tired eyes a place to soak my aching feet. A canyon wall where my spirit can take flight.
